Please note: Black we define as a Child and Young Person whose Ethnic Origin is either African, Caribbean including Mixed Race with African or Caribbean Heritage.
There'll be fun filled activities such as Climbing Wall, Waterfall/Gorge Walk, Archery, Bushcraft, Orienteering and Cooking to:
build confidence
increase social skills

There’ll be engaging workshops that focus on Culture, Identity and Heritage and we'll be tackling real issues like exploitation, grooming, drug misuse and knife crime to build their knowledge on how to keep themselves safe.
We'll also have in-house Therapeutic Practitioners on hand to provide emotional support.
At the end of the Residential a Report will be issued to the Booking Corporate Parent (which includes Foster Carers and Residential Children’s Home Staff), with any concerns and positive outcomes, to aid their learning in how to support and meet the needs of the Black Child or Young Person in their care.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Will The Black Care Experience be providing transportation to collect the Children and Young People from across the UK to bring them to the Residential location?
If we had to get to the airport that wasn’t near to our home to be on the flight for a well needed holiday, we’d make arrangements to travel the distance to be on the plane and travel the distance to arrive at the Resort.
If we had to attend a training course that was out of town to benefit and progress our career, we’d make arrangements to travel the distance to be on time and be ready to learn.
The Black Care Experience Residential will benefit and change the trajectory of the Black Child or Young Person in Care. With that in mind, Foster Carers, Social Workers, Support Workers, Key Workers, please make arrangements to travel the distance to bring them to the location, for a life changing experience they will never forget.
Please don’t let distance be an obstacle to the Black Child or Young Person in your Care attending The Black Care Experience Residential.
Our staff have first hand understanding of working on Residentials, and have seen Parents and Guardians find ways to transport their children and the children in their care to take part in a stay that benefits the child.
As Corporate Parents, please don’t let mode of transportation be an obstacle to the Black Child or Young Person in your Care attending The Black Care Experience Residential.
Is the Residential appropriate for Children and Young People where there is no current concern of exploitation, grooming, drug misuse and knife crime?
The Black Care Experience Residential is not centred around the prevention of exploitation, grooming, drug misuse and knife crime. As mentioned above, the Participants will be engaging in fun filled activities and various workshops, to see them have a meaningful great time.
We do believe that information and knowledge shared in the workshops and through conversation will equip our Black Children and Young People with the information they need ahead of time, to know how to make the right decision and keep themselves safe in the wider world around them.
With that in mind, The Black Care Experience Residential is open to Children and Young People where there are no current concerns and where there are concerns.
